UGC National Eligibility Test (NET) June-2025 by NTA

On behalf of UGC, the National Eligibility Test (NET) in the month of June 2025 is being conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA) for determining the eligibility of Indian nationals for the Eligibility for Assistant Professor only or Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) & Eligibility for Assistant Professor Both in Indian Universities and Colleges for Humanity subjects.


About NTA and NET June-2025 Examination

National Testing Agency (NTA) has been established by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD) as a premier, specialist, autonomous, and self-sustained testing organization to conduct entrance examinations for admission/fellowship in higher educational institutions.

On behalf of UGC, the National Eligibility Test (NET) will be conducted from 21 June 2025 to 30th June 2025 by National Testing Agency (NTA) for determining the eligibility of Indian nationals for the Eligibility for Assistant Professor only or Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) & Eligibility for Assistant Professor for the year 2025 onward and and also admission to Ph.D. in 85 various subjects.

The award of JRF and Eligibility for Assistant Professor both OR Eligibility for Assistant Professor only depends on the performance of the candidate in both the papers of NET in aggregate. However, the candidates qualifying exclusively for Assistant Professor are not to be considered for the award of JRF.

Candidates who qualify the Test for eligibility for Assistant Professor are governed by the rules and regulations for recruitment of Assistant Professor of the concerned universities/colleges/state governments, as the case may be.

UGC NET by NTA

The NTA will conduct the next UGC NET from 21/06/2025 to 30/06/2025. The Test will be conducted in the OMR (Pen & Paper),
mode only. The test will consist of two papers having 50 and 100 questions having 100 and 200 marks respectively.

NTA UGC NET June-2025 Exam Eligibility

  • QualificationCandidates who have secured at least 55% marks (without rounding off) in Master’s Degree OR equivalent examination from universities/institutions recognized by UGC   in Humanities (including languages) and Social Science, Computer Science & Applications, Electronic Science, etc.  are eligible for this Test. The Other Backward Classes(OBC) belonging to non-creamy layer/Scheduled Caste (SC)/Scheduled Tribe (ST)/ persons with disability (PWD) category candidates who have secured at least 50% marks (without rounding off) in Master’s degree or equivalent examination are eligible for this Test.
  • Age: 30 years.  A relaxation up to 5 years is provided to the candidates belonging to OBC/SC/ST/PWD categories and to women applicants. No age limit for Assistant Professor test.

Application fee

An application fee of ₹1150/- (₹600/- for OBC/EWS candidates and ₹325/- for SC/ST/PWD and Third Gender candidates) to be paid online.
